ABSTRACT
This work investigates the use of extract of alligator pepper pod, mango peel and banana peel asinhibitors to carbon steel corrosion in an acidic industrial environment (oil refinery). Corrosionweight loss method was adopted on the carbon steel coupons to evaluate inhibition efficiencyinthe presence of these plant extracts. The corrosion inhibitor was extracted with the aid of Soxhlet apparatus. Corrosion rate (CR), Inhibitor Efficiency (IE) and Weight loss (∆W) were studied fromgravimetric measurement of carbon steel coupons immersed in 1.5M HCl in the presence andabsence of different concentrations (2.5ml,7.5ml,12.5ml,17.5ml,22.5ml respectively) of theinhibitor.
